How to Select the Right Outdoor Furniture for Your Restaurant, Patio or Cafe

If you’re looking for commercial patio furniture for your business, it can be difficult to know which furniture is the best. With so many options to choose from, you may have no idea what commercial patio furniture suits your needs, the décor of your venue, and your guests’ comfort best. Thankfully, we’ve got some tips to help you make the right choice:

1. Analyze the décor. If you have a nautical-themed restaurant, you want commercial outdoor furniture to match the décor. Same for a French-style sidewalk café, an Italian pizzeria, or a Sunday brunch theme. Think about what colors and styles suit your décor best, as well as which materials (wood, steel, plastic, wicker, etc.). A custom powder coating gives our PNZ furniture a beautiful finish compatible with a broad range of décor styles.

2. Consider the use. Will your venue offer seating for pets? Are you going to have a rowdier crowd (for Sunday Brunch) or a quieter, calmer group (for a café)? Are you going to have a lot of children sitting in the chairs, or will it be primarily adults? If the furniture will see a lot of use, you may want something a bit more durable. Our furniture covers, for example, can handle heavy wear from kids (shoes, spilled food and water, etc.) as well as adults (spilled beer).

3. Consider the number of guests. If your venue is primarily filled with small groups of people, you can rely on smaller tables and chairs. If you find big crowds tend to filter in (particularly on the weekend), you may need to find commercial patio furniture that can be put together to fit more people. If most of your guests sit indoors, you may not need as much outdoor furniture. On the other hand, if your guests prefer the outdoor seating, you may need to invest in more commercial outdoor furniture.

4. Think about the weight. You may end up moving the furniture around to accommodate your guests and your outdoor décor. Consider how heavy the furniture will be—ergo, how much effort it will take your servers to move the tables and chairs.

5. Emphasize stability and comfort. There are few things more irritating than a table or chair that rocks. A sidewalk/outdoor venue is more prone to floor inconsistencies than an indoor venue. Make sure you find tables and chairs that are built for maximum stability. You also want your guests to be comfortable when they sit in your chairs, as that will keep them at the table for longer.

6. Think about multi-function furniture. Some outdoor furniture is designed to be used indoors and vice versa. These multi-function furniture will allow you to rotate the outdoor tables and chairs with the indoor ones, extending their lifespan and reducing the risk of weather damage. Our easy-wicker clean furniture provides excellent versatility—it’s suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

It will take time and effort to find the right furniture for your outdoor venue, but it’s an investment that will pay off in the long run!
